Welcome to !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , the activity of searching the abandoned, left-for-dead !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! profiles that time forgot for interesting cars, projects, personalities, and images. ….then posting them here.

Kinja'd!!!

Ever wondered what has become of the cars, and their owners since they last logged into these profiles? Since most of these were last updated when George W. was in office, I can't help but to wonder what ever became of them.

Are they still into the hobby? Have they since graduated to a minivan or some bloated trucklet? Do they stick with a particular brand/model or move on to something else?

Today, some of these questions can be answered. Last week, one of the profile owners came across their edition of CarDomaining here in Oppositelock, and created an !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! to say hi.

Hey this article is about me! Pretty cool! I have a 2010 Camaro SS now. I actually do almost all the work to my Camaros.

Laurie's profile for her 1994 Camaro was !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! of last year. Back then I mentioned that CarDomain's redesign screwed up most the text from the profiles, so I guessed at the story her photos were telling.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Turns out she was replacing a worn V6 with an upgraded unit - as she explained:

"So the story goes.... My Mom gave me her Camaro and a month later it blew a head gasket. Damn L32 engines! When I found out my local shop was charging $1500 to replace 1 gasket, I knew I could do it for less myself.

Kinja'd!!!

So, I found a new performance 3.4L to replace the stock. I did the overhaul in my Dads garage, even using his tractor to lift the body off the sub frame. Got the heads resurfaced, then put it all back together only referencing forums and my shop manuals. I will have to say it was a tough project.

I spent nearly everyday after work for 2 months working on it. But it felt damn good when I turned that engine over for the first time. I literally cried."

So, where is she now?

According to the links she shared below, she's still in California, still driving Camaros, and is still doing most of her own work.

I'll let Laurie explain:

Now I have a 2010 Camaro SS. It is gorgeous! I got her all stock. All the upgrades to my 2010 SS I've personally done, except the vertical doors. Sorry, to much to list, you'll have to check it out at Camaro5:

Last year my Camaro won 5 awards at 4 shows and just recently scored my first sponsorship. In the near future I will also be filming DIY installation videos of sponsored parts.

Once I got my 2010 all I wanted to do was work on it, so I felt it was time to sell my 1976, 1992 and 1994 Camaros.

I had the three Camaros for about 10 years. Sometimes I regret not keeping them, since my goal was to eventually own one of each generation. Maybe again someday, I'll just need a bigger garage for all my toys first.

For more details about her 2010 Camaro, visit the first link above, her modification list is pretty long, and is more detailed than its !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

She even has a chicken named Bandit that "helps" her with her modding and maintenance.

Kinja'd!!!

Thanks for finding us, Laurie. We're glad you are still keeping busy with the hobby, and we hope you keep enjoying it.

Kinja'd!!!

I told Laurie this update was here, so don't be surprised if she shows up in the comments.

The "correct" way to take an engine out of a 4th gen F-body.

I thought the correct way was to light the car on fire because fuck changing spark plugs.

No, that's what you do when the water pump breaks and takes out the opti, thereby totaling the car.

Wow. That's pretty impressive Laurie. I am just happy when I change my spark plugs. I might be a mechanical idiot. Kind of.

I'd have to say timskelton.com This man set out with the task to build a ford lightning that had the capability of being a road racing machine among the best. I have used his website for the past year to gain interesting insight on making my truck into a road racing beast. The dude had such great technical know-how and build instructions that you could help but commend him. He has posted any new info in many years it seems but I still use it regularly for the invaluable info.

Or if you just happened to drive through a moderately deep puddle, which also takes out the optispark.

I agree, but I wouldn't even know where to begin trying to track down people from 10 year old profiles.

This was a gift.
